Therme Group, the leading global developer and operator of large-scale wellbeing destinations, today marked the groundbreaking of Therme Singapore, a state-of-the-art development slated to open at Marina South in 2030. Spanning more than 720,000 sq ft of gross floor area, equivalent to over nine football fields, Therme Singapore will be Asia’s first large-scale integrated urban wellbeing destination, introducing a new form of social infrastructure to the region. “Therme Group’s vision is to create a new form of social infrastructure, where wellbeing is accessible, joyful and integrated into everyday city life. Singapore’s commitment to long-term urban planning, innovation and world-class public spaces makes it a natural home for this vision. Therme Singapore Experience

Designed to serve visitors from all walks of life, from families with children to working professionals and seniors, Therme Singapore will integrate leisure, nature and wellbeing into a single immersive destination. The seven-storey development with a basement will feature more than 20 indoor and outdoor pools and water bodies, as well as over 70 wellness treatment rooms. The visitor experience is organised into three distinct zones.

The Play zone features active, family-oriented water attractions, including children's pools, 18 water slides spanning more than 1.8 kilometres in total length, and interactive play areas designed for movement, exploration, and shared enjoyment.

The Relax zone offers thermal pools, therapeutic mineral baths, quiet water spaces, and amenities such as hydromassage beds and infrared therapy.

The Restore zone is dedicated to deeper wellbeing, including saunas, steam rooms and massage treatment spaces focused on physical and mental rejuvenation. Visitors can expect more than 86,000 sq ft of food-and-beverage offerings for dining, relaxation, and social gatherings, complemented by sea views.

Therme Singapore Landscape and Design

Nature is woven throughout the development. The extensive landscaped environments will feature more than 200,000 plants across over 200 species, including orchids and native Southeast Asian varieties, strengthening the local biodiversity while creating immersive 2 | 5 indoor and outdoor green environments.

Beyond the development, a coastal public park spanning almost 4 hectares will be created to connect Therme Singapore with Marina Barrage, enhancing public access to green spaces while strengthening the ecological and recreational value of the waterfront district.

Therme Singapore is developed by Therme Group in partnership with Kajima Overseas Asia (Singapore) and designed by multinational architecture firm DP Architects in collaboration with Therme Group’s in-house architects, Therme ARC. The development will incorporate a range of sustainability measures, including energy-efficient building systems, solar photovoltaic panels, smart irrigation technologies and climate-adaptive landscaping strategies aimed at reducing operational carbon emissions and supporting biodiversity.

Advanced technologies will also be integrated across operations and the visitor experience. These include waterproof RFID wristbands that function as locker keys and cashless payment tools, a next-generation robotic locker system designed to optimise convenience and space utilisation, and advanced ozone-based water filtration systems that enhance water quality and operational efficiency.

Skills and Capability Building

Therme Singapore is also expected to generate direct employment opportunities, alongside broader job creation across tourism, hospitality and related sectors. Roles will span construction, engineering, facilities management, operations and hospitality, underscoring the need for strong technical capabilities and industry-relevant training. An estimated 400 new jobs will be created, including the development of specialised capabilities such as sauna masters (also known as Aufgussmeisters) alongside a range of hospitality roles to lead and deliver the destination’s diverse programming.

To support workforce development, Therme Singapore has established partnerships with Institutes of Higher Learning, including a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Technical Education and Republic Polytechnic. These collaborations will focus on skills development, innovation projects, internships, and employment pathways for graduates, in line with Singapore’s approach to aligning education, industry, and employment to build a future-ready workforce.

“Therme Singapore has the potential to become one of Singapore’s most meaningful shared spaces, visited by millions over time and woven into the life of the city. To achieve this, it must be iconic and enduring, inclusive in its design, programming and experience, and shaped by the climate, culture and lifestyle of Singapore. Beyond the visitor experience, Therme Singapore 3 | 5 is also about people, creating jobs, developing new capabilities, and supporting Singapore’s tourism, hospitality and wellness sectors. Singapore is the ideal platform for Therme's growth in Asia. It offers the right environment for this vision through strong connectivity, a deep talent ecosystem and a culture of innovation, enabling us to serve both local communities and visitors from across the region.”
